Who we are
UsTube is operated by Isaac Omueti, trading as UsTube, based in Lagos, Nigeria. Isaac Omueti is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through the service. Contact: privacy@ustube.com.ng.
What we collect and why
- Account data (email, display name, avatar, optional city) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: contract.
- Messages, reactions, uploads, voice notes — to deliver the service to you and your conversation members. Legal basis: contract.
- Call metadata (who, when, duration) — to power call history and troubleshoot issues. We do not record call audio or video. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Watch room state (movie, timestamp, participants) — to keep playback in sync. Legal basis: contract.
- Usage & device data (page views, feature usage, IP address, device identifiers) — to improve the product and prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
What we never do
- Sell your data to advertisers, brokers, or model trainers.
- Record call audio or video — peer-to-peer streams never touch our servers.
- Read your private chats. They are encrypted and only your conversation members can decrypt them.
Who we share data with
- Service providers / subprocessors: Supabase (EU region) — database, auth, file storage; Cloudflare — TURN relay for calls, CDN, edge runtime.
- Merchant of Record: Paddle.com — processes payments, manages subscriptions, handles tax compliance and invoicing on our behalf.
- YouTube: embedded no-cookie player only; we don't share your identity with Google.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where required by applicable law.
Retention
We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active, plus a short buffer for backups and legal obligations. When you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted from all systems within 30 days. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be retained longer.
Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these from Settings, or by emailing privacy@ustube.com.ng. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and audit logging — to protect your data.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for login and preferences, plus anonymous first-party analytics. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside your country. Where transfers are made from the UK/EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.
